Chinese Clothing: Symbol of Different Social Class
Qin Shihuang, the First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty, established many social systems, including one for uniforms to distinguish people's ranks and social positions. From then on different style, fabric, color and pattern and accessories shows people's ranks and social positions.
For example, in Tang dynasty, officials above class3, the uniform is purple, with gold fish bag. The officials above class5, below class3, the uniform is red, with silver bag. While the officials below class6, the uniform is blue, without bag.
Different fabric of the Chinese clothing, also shows the people's treasure and social class differently. Who wearing the silk, brocade is the rich people. People that wear cotton and linen is the commons.
